Program Manager

Primary purpose
The Program Manager will be a part of a trailblazing team of Youth Impact staffwho are committed to scaling up high impact education and health programming. Our health education program, Choices, is an intervention that informs students about the risks of older partners, including HIV, and empowers them with healthy relationship decision-making skills. This intervention has been proven to reduce teenage pregnancy, a proxy for unprotected sex and HIV, in rigorous randomized controlled trials (RCT) by 28%. In 2014, Youth Impact conducted a RCT reaching 343 schools in a third of Botswana. The results showed reductions in teenage pregnancy by 40% when delivered by peer educators. The Program Manager will be responsible for playing a key program leadership role to ensure its success. They will lead program management including strategy development, people management, coordination of operations, programmatic thought leadership, partnerships, budgeting and reporting.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead programmatic strategy: Contribute to the execution of a scale strategy, work plans and milestones.

Team management: Manage a team of officers and senior officers and oversee field staffrecruitment and training.

Overseeing monitoring and evaluation: Overseeing M&E systems and programmatic reporting.

Partnership management: Liaise with and maintain healthy working relations with local and international programmatic stakeholders including government partners, CSOs, NGOs, academics, etc.

Grant applications and reporting: Key contributor to grant applications, funder milestone reports and program-related reporting.

Document and codify: Program-related decisions, procedures, best practices and protocols for implementation.

Lead discussions with departments to build consensus and buy-in: Build buy-in and act as a bridge between departments by supporting them and individuals to execute program activities with timeliness and quality.

Develop and manage field operations: Oversee detailed and high-quality execution of plans with field teams, including regular field visits, meetings with government partners, and regional teams, while also providing troubleshooting guidance when necessary.
Required qualifications

Extensive experience in health programs, partnerships and stakeholder management.

Proven ability to manage programs or projects, teams, and build and maintain relationships in a diverse environment.

An eye for detail and ensuring strategic plans are operationalized at quality in the field and at scale.

Ability to build systems and create structure from the ground up in addition to nurturing existing systems.

Self-starter who is proactive, organized and can propose effective solutions to complex problems and innovate.

Very strong people and communication skills.
