Co-Founder and Executive Director Noam is committed to bridging the gap between evidence on ‘what works’ into scaled policy and practice. His work experience includes the University of Botswana, J-PAL, the World Bank, and the White House as well as founding and transitioning two social enterprises into sustained initiatives. He has published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals including Nature. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics & Economics from MIT and a PhD from the University of Oxford.

Co-Founder and Managing Director. Moitshepi is committed to empowering youth to reach their full potential. She is the Ministerially-appointed chair of the Government of Botswana's National Youth Council. She has been named the "40 changemakers under 40" in Botswana, sits on former President Mogae's Youth Council, is a Queen's Young Leader and a UNESCO Youth Forum keynote speaker.

Director, Development and Finance Clarisse joined Young 1ove following 7 years with KPMG Canada in its audit and advisory practices, including a secondment to the KPMG office in Johannesburg, South Africa. At KPMG, she specialized in working with clients going through significant periods of change, including rapid growth or acquisition. She holds a CPA, CA (Canada) designation. At Young 1ove, Clarisse leads the finance, HR, administration, risk management and compliance functions.

Senior Content & Training Manager Thato brings over a decade of experience working with over 100,000 youth all over the country. She has Prior to Young 1ove she worked with a number of organizations in Botswana including the Ministry of Education, UNFPA, Men & Boys for Gender Equality and Stepping Stones International.

Finance Manager Patience is a professional accountant with extensive finance and accounting experience developed over nine years across diverse industries. Prior to joining Young 1ove, Patience worked at the Women’s Finance House Botswana, Legae Investors and Manjeya Panel Beaters. She holds an honors degree in Finance from the National University of Science and Technology in Zimbabwe and a certification from the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.

Business Development Manager Amy has raised millions of dollars for governmental and nongovernmental organizations throughout the United States and Botswana--most recently as a civil society capacity-building specialist for three organizations in Botswana. She has a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology and Sociology from Smith College.

Curriculum & Innovation Specialist Prior to Young 1ove, Gabby designed curricula and led educational interventions to improve quality education in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda and conducted qualitative and quantitative research on creative and culturally-appropriate pedagogies in sub-Saharan Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She has an MPhil in Education from the University of Cambridge and a B.A. in Psychology, Public Policy & Community Action, and Art from Connecticut College.

Research Specialist Konstantin is a research specialist at young1ove and post-doctoral researcher at the University of Bern, where he obtained a PhD in Economics in 2017. Konstantin has conducted applied research projects in multi-year collaborations with NGOs, Switzerland‘s largest telecommunications provider, as well as the Federal Administrative Court of Switzerland.

Program Coordinator. Tendekai has 8 years experience in building collaborative relationships in the international development sector. She holds a Bachelor’s in Sociology, and a Masters in Development Studies.

Head of Innovation and Development. Karen Clune is passionate about improving health and development inequities. Karen chairs the Board of Directors for Learn to Play, a non-profit organization delivering quality early education through community-led playgroups in Botswana. Prior to these roles, Karen was the Innovation Team Lead within USAID’s Global HSAID’s Global Health Bureau where she led efforts around the $100M Saving Lives at Birth Grand Challenge.

Program Manager. Efua is a recent Monash University graduate with a degree in Public Health and brings her passion for social change and empowerment to the team. Prior to Young 1ove, she volunteered with Botswana-Baylor Children’s Clinical Center of Excellence as well as interned with the Monitoring and Evaluation Department at Hope Worldwide South Africa. Her experience teaching young students music theory at Kingdom Arts Academy has given her a creative background in curriculum development

Program Associate Rumbidzai has worked in the research industry in the private sector for the past 10 years gaining exposure to Marketing and Social research. She has vast wealth of experience in project coordination and logistics as well as stakeholder engagement and management. She holds a Diploma in Marketing, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Humanities and a MSc. in Environmental Science from the University of Botswana.

Program Manager. Colin began his career in education as a grade 8 ELA teacher in New York. His professional interests include curriculum development, inclusive education and non-formal pedagogies. Colin loves literature and when he isn't spending time with friends he can be found lounging leisurely with his nose in a book.Colin holds a BA in English Literature and Secondary Education from Marist College and a MSEd in International Education from the University of Pennsylvania.

Talent & People Associate Kagiso is a personable and self-motivated human capital business partner with over 8 years in the human capital industry. She is University of Botswana graduate with Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences with majors in Psychology (Industrial) and Sociology. Her ability to harness talent and synchronize teams to maximize performance

Associate Training Manager Matlhogonolo, or Sunshine, joins Young 1ove with extensive experience in youth programming. With a degree in Sociology from the University of Botswana, Sunshine has worked on projects with PEPFAR and NACA on HIV messaging and communication programmes for in and out of school youth. She is currently working on her Masters in Social Work-- Youth and Community Practice.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow Claire is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Young 1ove and the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government and CSAE. Claire has conducted research on gender inequality, social protection, and primary education with the World Bank’s Gender Innovation Lab and Innovations for Poverty Action. Previously, she was an economist at the Australian Agency for International Development and adviser to the head of Australia’s Attorney-General’s Department.

Senior Research Officer Gaone is a young research enthusiast and aspiring development economist who is passionate about using quantitative research methods to address leading economic and human development challenges, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. She holds a B.A in economics from Smith College, where she also specialized in African studies.

Research & Innovation Associate Lovemore’s experience spans Banking, the NGO sector and academia. He holds a Master of Applied Science in Data, Economics and Development Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in Statistics and Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

Senior Research Officer Amy began her college career at Wellesley College as a Biology major, then transferred to New York University to pursue Global Public Health and Anthropology. She spent a semester in Ghana and one summer in Liberia. She loves to try new foods and to cook as well as to travel.

Senior Officer - Finance & Administration Wame is a part qualified Management Accountant in pursuit of her certification at Botswana Accountancy College. She has been in the professional field for over two years with past experience in Accounts Departments at Nando’s Botswana, Cresta President Hotel and Ministry of Finance (Accountant General). Wame is passionate about young people and positively impacting her generation through evidence-based interventions.

Communications Officer Shawn is a Media Practitioner with 5 years of successful experience in communications, content marketing and advertising. He specializes in new media technologies and is a strong believer in the power of positive thinking in the workplace. He is a graduate of the University of Botswana Media Studies Department.

Senior Curriculum Officer. Tshimologo is an aspiring international development practitioner, with a keen interest in work that is focused on addressing Africa’s development challenges. She has worked in the higher education sector as a university lecturer. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) and a Master of Social Science in International Relations, both from the University of Cape Town.

Senior Training Officer Lorato is a trained and qualified social worker with vast knowledge and experience in counseling, community development and social welfare. Her expansive career and fieldwork experience includes work with Gabane Community Based Care Centre, Botswana Police Services and Central Association of the blind and disabled in Serowe. She graduated with both a Diploma and Degree in Social Work from the University of Botswana.

Regional Coordinator - TaRL Katlego is a passionate youth leader who brings three years of professional experience to Young 1ove. During her undergraduate studies at the University of Botswana studying Sociology and English, Katlego interned at the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in Phikwe and volunteered at the Botswana-Baylor Children’s Clinical Center of Excellence. After completing her Post-Graduate Diploma in Education, she taught English at Makhubu School.

Senior Officer - Finance & Administration Patience is an MBA holder and also a Bachelor of Accountancy graduate from the University of Botswana. In addition, she holds a Diploma in Forensic Accounting and recently completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation. She is also a registered member in good standing with the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Multimedia Design - Senior Officer My passion/profession is graphic design of which has developed over the years to me finding my main focus in communications such as Branding, Logo design and Advertising.

Operations & Logistics Officer Sakinah Keneilwe Nyoni is a BA holder in Community Development and currently doing a Post graduate in Monitoring and Evaluation. She has been a Facilitator at Teaching at the Right Level(TaRL) from February 2020 till 2021 Mid September. Her passion of being a change agent and bringing positivity in the community through volunteering saw her succeed under TaRL and ultimately earning her new role of Operations and Logistics Officer.

Senior Research Officer Bonno double majored in Mathematics and Chemistry at the University of Botswana. She is passionate about social justices and contributing spiritually and mentally to her community, especially young people. Bonno initially joined the Young 1ove team as a Teaching at the Right Level Facilitator and has previous experience interning for VWS Envig Botswana. She's a diligent worker who has used her studies to tutor primary and high school learners.

Princeton in Africa Fellow Carolyn Qian graduated from Columbia University in 2019, where she majored in neuroscience and Italian literature. While in school, she developed an interest in health advocacy and youth mentorship by joining the organization Peer Health Exchange. As a PHE educator, she taught classes about accessing health resources to New York City public school students once a week.

Senior Research Officer Bogadi is a curious, vibrant and self motivated young researcher. She graduated from University of Botswana with a B.A. in Statistics and Psychology. Her past experience includes an internship with the Ministry of Basic Education and working as a Research Assistant at University of Botswana, Department of Institutional Planning. She has also volunteered with Face the Nation Club-Botswana and Campus Crusade for Christ in Botswana.

Training Officer - Curriculum & Training After surveying and facilitating Young 1ove programmes since 2014, Marvan joins the team full time as a TaRL Mentor. Marvan is a passionate social entrepreneur who co-founded Botswana-based companies including Cack Slack Moist Clothing and Winds of Change Organisation, a NGO which focuses on STEM education in Gaborone, and worked at Stepping Stones International as the Assistant Leadership Officer and Income Generation Facilitator.

Regional Officer Kaone is a dynamic, self-motivated young woman who loves volunteering with issues related to youth and young children. With a Bachelors in Computer Science from Botho University, Kaone’s previous professional experience includes volunteering as a tutor at Stepping Stones International. She has been working on Teaching at the Right Level from the beginning as a surveyor and she is excited to be a part of growing TaRL to impact youth across Botswana.

Regional Officer - Zones Temogo is a graduate of Boitekanelo College with a Diploma in Health Education and promotion and has volunteered as a Community Treatment Supporter at Botswana Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS and co-founded Winds of Change Organisation. Temogo has previously worked with Young 1ove as a surveyor and facilitator for Teaching at the Right Level.

Regional Officer - North West Andreck is a graduate degree in Broadcasting and Journalism. He worked as a communications manager at Wild trust. His interest is to contribute to any cause which bring’s about change. This might be behavioural change or sensitization. He likes exploring new opportunities and reading.

North West, Regional Coordinator Karunga is a passionate educator with a vast of experience in classroom instruction and teaching. He has worked as a temporary teacher at Grootlaagte primary school and Rethuseng Junior Secondary School offering Integrated Science. He studied at University of Botswana with a major in Biology. He joined Young 1ove as a TaRL Level facilitator and worked his way to become a SRC for South East region. He serves as a link between the field and the office.
