Training Officer - Philippines

The Training Officer will play an essential role in adapting and aligning program curricula — including a new literacy programme — for the Philippine education context. They will ensure that the program’s lesson plans, activities, pedagogies, teaching techniques, and final curriculum packages are locally relevant, standardized, scalable and implemented at quality. They will also be responsible for documenting and codifying Youth Impact’s curriculum design and training delivery processes. 

 

More so, the Training Officer will be supporting the development and delivery of training programs for Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL), a remedial education program for primary school learners and ConnectEd, a remote, phone-based tutoring program providing targeted instruction on foundational learning. They will support the Training Associate in training teachers, tutors and learning facilitators to ensure quality and relevant program implementation. 

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adapt and contextualize proven, evidence-based curricula in collaboration with the Curriculum and Training team.

  • Develop rigorous and scalable literacy and numeracy lesson plans, materials, and media in collaboration with the Curriculum and Training team

  • Compile, process, and report on field implementation (pulling from own experience and documented observations from the field, focus groups with youth and facilitators, quantitative survey results analysis, etc.) to synthesize into future curriculum content.

  • Support the development of rigorous and comprehensive Youth Impact facilitator training models, materials, and media in collaboration with the Curriculum and Training team

  • Assist in training and supporting Youth Impact facilitators to implement curriculum at quality and scale.

  • Conduct school visits to ensure effective, quality, and standardized program implementation.

  • Manage curricular documentation processes and storage for daily internal operations and for successful pilot and full-scale implementation.

  • Coordinate and support training workshops and Boot camps to onboard new Youth Impact facilitators. 

  • Support logistics for daily internal operations for a successful pilot and full-scale implementation.

  • Support the overall success of Youth Impact and its partners.

 

 

Qualifications:

Individuals must possess a bachelor’s degree and have experience working in education environments such as teaching, lesson-planning, writing curricula and/or program design. Work with youth (e.g. public schools, after-school programs, life skills program) considered advantageous. Strong writing skills and visual aesthetic required.

  • Ability to create “structure out of nothing” – Strong ability to turn an imagined outcome into a codified set of steps, actions and goals on paper.

  • Willingness to learn – Must be able to balance having a set of strong skills and track record with openness to feedback, learning, growth and collaboration among colleagues. 

  • Teamwork – Good interpersonal skills; ability to lead teamwork sessions; demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Able to work well with other managers and the officers. 

  • Energy, motivation and stamina – Must be able to remain enthusiastic and produce quality work under pressure, short-notice and sub-optimal conditions (power outages, etc).


 

Reporting Structure

The Training Officer will report directly to the Training Associate.They will work cross functionally within C&T and provide logistical support to training teams where necessary.

Contract Period

Successful candidates will be offered a 1 year fixed term contract, with the possibility of further extension pending performance. 

 

Location

This post will be based in the Philippines and would require heavy traveling (80%)
